Kick-Ass International Trailer

Need I say more? Awesomesauce with lotsa cream and cheddar if ya ask me. Oh yeah!

And yep — that exclusive Empire cover is freakin’ umm… kick ass.

W3 Season 2 – Episode 3

Special guest and Back2Gaming dude Vincent Haoson joins us in this week’s edition of World 3. Today’s topic deals with videogame remakes/reboots that probably will never see the light of day. Emphasis on probably. And no, we are NOT going to talk about the inevitable Final Fantasy VII Remake!

Starring: G, Mayor, Martin and Vincent Haoson

W3 News Bits | Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami’s new game, Suikoden VI!?, GTAIV Episodes PS3/PC bound

Shinji Mikami’s new awesome game is…
Vanquish. Developed by Platinum Games and published by SEGA, it looks like a Halo game set in the U.S. with giant mechs for enemies. EXCITING and nope, I’m not being sarcastic. TRAILER! Discuss!

Wild ARMs developers are crafting a new RPG with Square Enix. Hang on this could get ugly…
Media.Vision, the studio behind Sony’s popular wild west inspired J-RPG franchise, is parterning with Square Enix to develop a new RPG. Sounds good and it could turn out as a B-level RPG that will appeal to the casual fans. The ugly? It’s for the iPhone, iPod Touch and (obviously) the iPad. First mega J-RPG for Apple’s new toy confirmed? Hah, sure.

Suikoden creator is considering to go back to Konami. Sort of.

Consider this piece a wild speculation — Yoshitaka Muramaya, the guy responsible for Suikodens I – III, left the series and Konami altogether years ago to pursue other interest. Ever wondered why the series sucked balls after III (sans part V of course)? There you go.

Then recently, he posted something really puzzling on his personal site:

A Decision. I received an offer from a certain company. Although I’m extremely thankful, the idea left me very troubled, personally. Should I accept it or not? Even now, it still concerns me.

What’s to be done about this…?

They say the Rubicon is a very small river. I wonder what it felt like to cross? That’s my current mood.

Certain company? It could be Konami obviously. As for the “Rubicon” – Julius Caesar crossed the Rubicon to return to Rome… if that makes any sense. Interesting noh? Again — wild speculation.

Scott Pilgrim’s live-action movie dated.
Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, based on the awesomesauce comic book series by Bryan Lee O’Malley, will hit theaters on August 13th, 2010. Wo0t!

Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City finally hitting the PS3 and PC.
The GTAIV DLC episodes were timed exclusive for the Xbox 360. Guess the contract is up as both The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony are finally going to be available for the PS3 and PC.

Both episodes will be available together on one disc on March 30 or individually available on the PlayStation Network and Games for Windows. Hurray PS3 and PC Grand Theft Auto-ers!

W3 Season 2 – Episode 2

It’s the showdown of spiky haired, pretentious teens and bulky dwarves – Japanese RPGs versus Western RPGs. Listen as we tackle the major differences between the 2 and analyze what exclusively works for one side or both. Could it be the setting, the characters, the mechanics, and/or the story? Oh boy.

What’s that — the song that doesn’t end? You don’t say…

Starring: G, Mia, Mayor, Kenneth, Altair and Mako

Persona 3 Portable US is coming out on…

July 6, 2010. Boxart is the one you’re looking at right now and here’s the official site.

Having played the Japanese version last year, I can safely say to fans that double (or is it triple?) dipping the adventures of Minato and company won’t be such a bad idea after all. Most of the little tweaks that technically made P3’s sequel, Persona 4 for the PS2, superior has found its way in this PSP edition such as giving direct orders to your party members during combat.

Still no word though on what freebie(s) Atlus has planned for this domestic Shin Megami Tensei release.

Exciting and let’s just hope July won’t be packed with A-list games. I heard from wild sources that StarCraft II might be hitting around the same time frame. Ditto with Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep for the PSP. Dear God…

W3 News Bits | Spider-Man movie reboot director confirmed, more God of War(s) and FFXIII composer leaves Square-Enix

Marc Webb and the Amazing Spider-Man.
It’s confirmed. Here’s the official press release from Sony:

“Marc Webb, the director of the Golden Globe nominated Best Picture (500) Days of Summer,  will direct the next chapter in the Spider-Man franchise, set to hit theaters summer 2012, it was jointly announced today by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios.”

“The next chapter”!? Nah, it could just be a freakin’ typo. Or not. Whatever the case may be, here’s my one and simple request – please, pretty please do not make another origin story. Now I know Mr. Webb that you’re a fan of the Ultimate Spider-Man comics and I gratefully respect that. But c’mon man, ditch the origin part and just start somewhere that feels established and engaging. And also, put together an ensemble cast that has the same caliber as (500) Days. Fuck those Twilight males in the event that they audition. Thank you.

Sony plans for more God of War after GOW3
I’m not surprised. It would actually be interesting to have a game, similar to Halo ODST, where you get to play a lone Spartan during Kratos’ early pre-ash days. OK that’s technically similar to ODST. But hey, it’s a feasible concept they can play around with.

Masashi Hamauzu leaves Square-Enix
The musical composer of Final Fantasy XIII and other Square titles has left the company not too long ago. Not so much of a big deal since he can still do freelance work for Square-Enix similar to Hitoshi Sakimito (FFXII, Ivalice titles) and Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts series, Versus XIII). But does this mean that Square sucks-ass when it comes to handling composers in general? Probably. Any dedicated Squeenix fan would remember the time when Nobuo Uematsu left the company years ago. I sense a pattern…

Suikoden II being re-released on cellphones in Japan.
Fuck you Konami.

BioShock 2 Reviews are coming in

New Kick-Ass Poster

Oh. ‘eff. Yeah.

W3 News Bits | Final Fantasy XIII English translation is done and the new international trailer, Spider-Man and Marc Webb

Final Fantasy XIII “Overseas Version” is complete.
Meaning translation, CG lip syncing (effort, I see you) and all sorts like bugs etc. have been double checked and is ready to go as planned. The next phase I believe is “Gold” where the mass production of the disc(s) will take place. Funny, I thought I wrote “God”.

The ’supporter’ role inside me is worried. How so? Remember Final Fantasy XII 4 years ago when it was leaked 30 days prior to its official release? There’s a possibility this might happen again… Xbox 360 version of course. Unless some awesome man of the planet manages to crack the PS3.

Oh and the new international trailer is out.
Featuring the Leona Lewis song and English voice acting. It’s… alright. The writing/dialog feels iffy, which has me irking since the great Alexander O. Smith is NOT translating the original Japanese script unlike XII. You can watch the pretty-ness over here.

Sony is courting the director of (500) Days of Summer to helm the new Spider-Man movie.
Interesting choice since the press states that this new ‘reboot’ Spider-Man movie will tackle teenage drama and the like. I don’t mind really despite how awful it was when I heard Sony bitch slapped Raimi’s concept for Spidey 4 a few days ago. Joseph Gordon Levitt would’ve been an awesome teenage Peter Parker similar to his Brick performance. Would have. The guy’s too old already for the teen nerdy role.

W3 Season 2 – Episode 1

In this season premiere, we discuss some of our anticipated movies of 2010. Films such as Scott Pilgrim, Kick Ass, Iron Man 2, Inception, New York, I Love You, BECK, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Eclipse (!?) The A-Team and MORE! Plus — Wapakman 2!? Oh no you didn’t Tokyo Tokyo!

Afterward, it’s the videogames segment where we talk about major console titles hitting the shelves this 1st Quarter (January to March). BIG games such as MAG, Army of Two: The 40th Day, Mass Effect 2, Sands of Destruction, White Knight Chronicles, Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth, BioShock 2, Dante’s Inferno, Lunar: Silver Star Harmony PSP, Heavy Rain, Bad Company 2, Yakuza 3, GOD OF WAR III, FINAL FANTASY XIII… whew, and a bunch of others! No kidding – Q1 is jam-packed with games left and right. Believe.

World 3 Season 2… here, we, go. Enjoy!

Starring: G, Mia, Martin, Mayor and Red Fab.
